Ukratko potpuno razliciti tip bregaste, odnosno vrijeme otvaranja (timing) ovisno o namjeni.
Navedimo neke profile bregastih:

brza cesta
otvorena cesta
Auto slalom""
Autocross
hill climbing (brdo)
krug
drag race

Ovi profili jos imaju djelajenje na atmosferske i turbo punjenjene motore.
